Review:
The acclaimed director Steven Spielberg has to be one of my favourites. He has directed more than 30 movies and Minority Report would feature in my top ten Spielberg movies. With brilliant cinematography throughout, Spielberg even manages to include a couple of gruesome scenes in Minority Report, like in some of his classics: Jaws, Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan.
The two main cast members in Minority Report both give great performances. I thoroughly enjoyed Tom Cruise, who is known for his action roles, but is dramatic, emotive and distinct in the role of John Anderton. Colin Farrell, who I know from such movies as Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Dumbo, played Danny Witwer. Danny Witwer adds a unique personality to the story, he is straight-laced and didn't show many emotions. Colin Farrell's performance is reminiscent of Alan Rickman's Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, a character that you initially love to hate but your view changes as you gain more information about them.
Minority Report is a futuristic detective thriller set in Washington D.C. in 2054 based on a short story by legendry science fiction writer Phillip K. Dick. I loved the mystery aspect of Minority Report. Throughout the movie I was figuring out different parts of the story, piece by piece. Because of this the movie took some time developing the story. Once I knew what was happening, it was much more satisfying.

You should definitely watch Blade Runner, Alien, The Matrix, War of the Worlds and I, Robot. All classic sci-fi.
ReplyDeleteI’ll give Alien a pass a bit to scary for me.
