With three outstanding central performances and a gripping story, the film thoroughly deserves all the praise it received.  Sean Penn delivers such a morally convoluted performance as Jimmy Markum. The former Boston mob boss is put through a family tragedy and Mystic River displays his reaction throughout the movie's run time. His emotions often get the better of him but that's what makes him a relatable character. Review: Jim Carrey made his name for his larger than life comedic roles, but in The Truman Show , where he plays Truman Burbank, we see a more subtle performance. His comedic timing remains incredible but he also shows a great deal of emotion and this works just as well. Jim Carrey's performance is the best performance in the movie... apart from Terry Camilleri's.  I don't care that I don't know who he is. I don't care that his character didn't even have a name. Terry Camilleri as Man in Bathtub is one of the best comedic performances I have ever seen . The manner in which he reacts to Truman's predicaments is hilarious.
