UK Release Date:  31 July 2014 Certification:  12A Director:  James Gunn Cast:  Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace,  Chris Pratt, Michael Rooker, Zoe Saldaña Rating:   88% Review: Back in 2014 no one could have anticipated the fame that James Gunn's Guardians trilogy would garnish. A breath of fresh air in a world saturated by unoriginal comic book movies made entirely for a cash-grab and riddled with Easter eggs. Guardians of the Galaxy is riveting. There's a magic quality surrounding the film that can't be escaped, full of heart and joy.  The soundtrack isn't the reason for the film's success but it sure helped contribute towards it. James Gunn created a delightful mix of music from the 60's and 70's, encapsulating the feel of the film during every scene. With every needle drop started through a speaker or walkman the characters are experiencing every sound along with the audience, immersing the viewer into t

A Quiet Place Part II

UK Release Date: 03 June 2021 Certification: 15 Director: John Krasinki Cast: Emily Blunt, Djimon Hounsou, Noah Jupe, John Krasinki, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds  Rating:   87 % Silence is not enough Review: Cinemas are back and it was a brilliant event finally being able to experience my first movie for a year and a half in a cinema due to the pandemic. And to top it all off A Quiet Place Part II is an extraordinary horror sequel that deserves to be seen on the big screen.  I know and love John Krasinki from  The Office  and I think his performance in  A Quiet Place  was breathtaking and whilst he directed superbly in that movie this is his chance to display his talent as a director. The cinematography is beautiful, every single shot is picture perfect and utterly stunning to look at. From an outsiders point of view it seems absolutely effortless to John Krasinki to create an incredible sense of tension and suspense that left me on the edge of my seat throughout the full run

Gladiator

UK Release Date: 12 May 2000 Certification: 15 Director: Ridley Scott Cast: Spencer Treat Clark, Russel Crowe, Richard Harris, Djimon Hounsou, Connie Nielsen, Joaquin Phoenix, Oliver Reed Rating: 86% We who are about to die, salute you! Review: I didn't know a lot about Gladiator and wasn't expecting too much having endured Ridley Scott's 2008 lethargic remake of Robin Hood . But Gladiator is an excellent movie. It actually won five Oscars in 2001, including Best Picture and Best Actor. The action is incredible. The use of medieval weapons and t he fact that the movie uses iconic venues like the Colosseum makes the action realistic and believable. Joaquin Phoenix, who plays Commodus, appears to be auditioning for Joker 19 years before he landed the role. Phoenix delivers an extremely creepy but brilliant villain with no redeeming qualities. The main actor Russel Crowe is also great in his role as Maximus, t he gladiator who defied an empire . His char

Shazam!

UK Release Date: 5 April 2019 Certification: 12A Director: David F. Sandberg Cast: Asher Angel, Jovan Armand, Ian Chen, Grace Fulton, Jack Dylan Grazer, Faithe Herman, Djimon Hounsou, Zachary Levi, Mark Strong Rating: 68 % Superman meets Big in Dc's new release. Review:  Shazam! is by far the funniest movie of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The strength of Shazam! is it's cast - I thought the cast were brilliant. David F. Sandberg trusted in the youth and it paid off. And whilst Zachary Levi and Mark Strong are excellent in Shazam! , both are definitely overshadowed by the younger actors especially, Jack Dylan Grazer, who I thought was absolutely amazing. Jack Dylan Grazer steals the show as Freddy Freeman, a disabled foster kid who is a superhero fanatic. It is Freddy who knows what to do when Billy Batson (Asher Angel) is turned into Shazam! Freddy helps Billy discover his superpowers only to be repaid by being blanked by Billy. At different points in the movi
