Review:
After only one viewing, Instant Family has established itself as a firm favourite, a movie that I am sure I will return to again. Instant Family is able to tap into a range of emotions - making me laugh one minute only for me to cry the next.
Instant Family is a heartwarming movie, largely due to the skilled and nuanced storytelling of director, Sean Anders. Anders and his wife took in three foster children at once and Instant Family is based on his real-life experience.
Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne have excellent chemistry on screen. Their characters are always bouncing off each other's punchline whilst struggling to deal with the children together.
Speaking of the children, all of them are engaging in their own way. Lizzy is very sarcastic and appears ambivalent to everything except the wellbeing of her siblings, Juan is forever apologetic even when it's not his fault and Lita has a mean side to her. Most times whenever their traits are played out on screen, I end up laughing.
Anders tackles an emotive subject sensitively in Instant Family. I know that there will never be a sequel but I would like to see more movies like this as I feel that Instant Family was an excellent vehicle for promoting foster care and the strength of the family.
In these extraordinary times of the coronavirus pandemic, simple things like the health of and the support of our family members comes to the fore.

Would be interested to see some ideas for good films to watch as a family during these strange times when we can’t go to the cinema. What would cheer me up?
