Review:
Alongside James Cameron's visionary storyline the three main cast members make The Terminator. Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor is a brilliant female lead that does have the potential to become a genuine action hero (which she evolves into later on in the series). I thought that she had really good chemistry with Michael Biehn's Kyle Reese. Kyle Reese is the perfect action hero - he is charismatic and brave and a great mentor for Sarah Connor. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is now an established action icon was apparently initially recommended to James Cameron for the role of Kyle Reese, but James Cameron thought he would make a better Terminator. He was correct. Schwarzenegger is a menacing and terrifying villain.
The Terminator changed the action genre for the better. For a movie that was released in the UK in 1985 the action is astonishing. At times gruesome, but I enjoyed that. There are multiple car chases which are all highly entertaining. And the final battle scene is relentless, including Sarah Connor's brilliant final line.

I have only seen The Terminator once, but two of the movies iconic lines are widespread in popular culture. Kyle Reese's "Come with me if you want to live" sets up the whole adventure perfectly, and the Terminator's threatening "I'll be back" is bone chilling.

Equally, Brad Fiedel's score is incredible. Yes, at times the soundtrack is a wee bit dated, but in my mind it is perfectly suited for the movie. The pulsating Terminator - Main Title being the pick of the bunch. I felt this piece of music symbolises the good in the movie, whenever it played it gave me hope.
Sure, the movie's visual effects are a little lame (compared to today's standards). The Terminator's face looks woeful and completely unrealistic in the repair scene, but that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the movie.
I would highly recommend The Terminator to everyone who hasn't seen this 1980's action classic.
“The Uzi 9mm.” Schwarzenegger apparently only speaks 58 words (17 sentences) throughout the entire film.
