Review:
Following on from 2014's smash hit Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 replicated the majority of the film's success whilst failing to capture the magic of the first.

Similarly, to its predecessor Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 immediately involves you in the world with an energetic opening. Another dancing scene - this time to 'Mr Blue Sky' - focusing solely on Baby Groot rather than the action surrounding him. Instantly, making the audience aware that the Guardians haven't changed from their first outing. The rest of the soundtrack is magnificent with 'Come a Little Bit Closer', 'Father and Son' and an immaculate scene set to Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain'.

Quite possibly the funniest film in the entire of the MCU. Every single line of dialogue uttered by Dave Bautista's Drax is tear-inducing, never failing to make me laugh. The whole 'harbulary batteries' bit is delightful.

Despite being an absolute bundle of fun, the film is packed with several flaws. A boring, generic villain played half-heartedly by Kurt Russell that the audience only comes to despise due to a forced, but well done, reveal. On top of that, once on Ego's planet the film's pace falls off a cliff - meandering along sluggishly. It feels constantly over saturated in colour. Following the MCU template of having to include a standard, poorly filmed CGI final fight detracting all interest in the film's conclusion.

Yet, I can't help but love every moment of the runtime. It hits home in all the right ways making for a much more emotionally affecting film. One of the best shot death scenes in a comic book movie. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 admittedly is a bit of a mess, and doesn't get anywhere near the heights of the first film, but an entertaining mess at that.
